「跨太平洋經貿整合發展趨勢與政策展望」座談會
一、會議主軸/ Themes：
2024年下半年的全球關注焦點之一為美國將於11月舉行總統大選，選舉結果可能改變美國的經貿政策，包括貿易協定和國際合作，從而影響全球供應鏈和市場穩定，選情受到全球各國高度關注，亦可能為美中經貿關係帶來新局勢。另一方面，2023年8月18日美日韓三國召開領袖峰會，並宣布針對三方軍事、經濟和外交領域持續深化合作，以促進人民、印太地區和全球的安全與繁榮，開啟全新夥伴關係的新時代。
據此，我們有幸邀請到美國總商會(USCC)資深副總裁Charles Freeman，美國總商會(USCC)為美國最大的商業組織，對美國經濟及政策制定過程中扮演重要角色，而F副總裁曾任美國貿易代表署（USTR）助理貿易代表、美國參議院立法顧問、美國戰略與國際研究中心(CSIS)中國研究主席等重要職務，熟稔亞太地區經貿事務及美中經貿政策，本次座談會將與F副總裁共同就美國大選、美中經貿發展及美日韓三方戰略夥伴關係等議題進行交流，並邀請產學界專家共同參與，進行互動交流，以掌握未來發展趨勢及可能之影響。
One of the global focuses in the second half of 2024 is the presidential election of the United States in November, and its results could alter U.S. economic and trade policies, including trade agreements, and international cooperation, thus affecting global supply chains and market stability. The election is drawing significant attention from countries around the world and could bring new dynamics to U.S.-China economic and trade relations. On the other hand, on August 18, 2023, the leaders of the United States, Japan, and South Korea held a summit and announced the continuous deepening of cooperation in military, economic and diplomatic fields among the three countries, aiming to promote the security and prosperity of their peoples, the Indo-Pacific region, and the world, marking a new era of partnership.
In this context, we are honored to invite Dr Charles Freeman, Senior Vice President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (USCC). The USCC is the largest business organization in the U.S. and plays an important role in the economic and policy-making process. Dr. Freeman has held key positions such as Assistant Trade Representative at the U.S. Trade Representative's office (USTR), Legislative Advisor to the U.S. Senate, and Chair of China Studies at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). He is well-versed in Asia-Pacific economic and trade affairs and U.S.-China trade policies. This Symposium will involve discussions with Dr. Freeman on topics such as the U.S. presidential election, U.S.-China economic and trade development, and the U.S.-Japan-Korea strategic partnership. Experts from academia and industry are also be invited to participate in interactive discussions to understand future development trends and potential impacts.
